Dental Implants

Dental implants have substantially changed the way we can treat patients with missing teeth.

From a single tooth to an entire mouth, implants can replicate the look, functionality and strength of your natural teeth. They truly are a fantastic solution for replacing missing teeth.

The versatility of the treatment means that it’s a viable option for those missing a single tooth or those looking to replace multiple missing teeth, with most treatments able to be completed in the same day.

Dental implants can help you restore the confidence in your smile. Implants can be used to replace teeth lost to decay, trauma, gum disease or old age, and can really transform the way you feel about your smile. We are pleased to be able to offer dental implants in Cardiff for our patients.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants act as a replacement for missing teeth, replicating the form and function of a natural tooth.

There are two parts to a dental implant. The implant itself is a small titanium rod which is fixed to the jawbone and sits under the gum, a procedure which is completed by our implant surgeon Guy McLellan. This takes place under local anaesthetic. This new titanium ‘root’ provides more stability than the root of a natural tooth.

Once this treatment is complete, we can use the dental implant in a variety of ways:

  • Single Tooth Implants
Dental implants are used to replace a single missing or poor quality tooth, or to replace 2-3 teeth where there’s a small gap. This is achieved by either attaching a single crown to the implant, or by using a small bridge to replace multiple teeth. The entire procedure can very often be carried out on the same day, allowing you to leave with a full smile. Find out more about single tooth implants here.
  • Implant Retained Dentures
Many people have issues with loose or unstable dentures. Pain, discomfort, trouble with eating  and embarrassment over the issue is fairly common amongst denture wearers. Dental implants can be used to secure dentures and prevent them from slipping, with cost effective treatment requiring as few as two implants to achieve life changing results. • Same Day Teeth
Also known as All on 4 or Teeth in a Day, Same Day Teeth utilises new implant technology, meaning we can now replace a full arch of teeth in a single day, rapidly rebuilding your smile and improving your confidence. This transformative treatment is suitable for most patients with missing, broken or decaying teeth, and is a quick and effective alternative to other dental work. See our All on 4 page for more information.
  • Zygomatic Dental Implants
Suitable for patients who may have been told they are unable to have dental implants due to a lack of bone in the jaw, zygomatic implants make use of zygoma fixtures, which extend into the dense zygomatic bone, or cheekbone. Like our All on 4 treatment, zygomatic implants can often be completed in a single day, giving you new, natural looking teeth that will last a lifetime.
